by Jen Hopkins

Ugly, improperly cared for nails are a big no-no in work or in dating. It applies for both men and women because hands are easily seen even during a simple conversation. Another reason why ugly nails leave a bad impression is because nails are not very hard to take care of. As long as you follow and maintain some basic nail care practices, you are sure to have nice-looking nails as well.

Keeping your nails trim is very important as shorter nails are less prone to breaking and accumulation of dirt. How you use your hands should determine the length of your nails. It doesn't have to be very short but be sure that it does not interfere in your everyday activities. Clipping of nails is usually done with a rounded end but a flat-ended nail may also be done. Be sure to file your nails after clipping as smooth nails will prevent cracking, as well as prevent injuring yourself accidentally. Another tip is immerse your nails in warm water first before clipping as it will make your nails softer and easier to trim.

Putting on some nail polish is an excellent way to make your nails look even better. Most girls would prefer using colorful nail polishes to make their hands look prettier, but using nail polish will also offer additional protection to your nails as it prevents scratching when working with your hands. Keep in mind that nail polish may contain some harmful chemicals so it is also not advisable to always wear them. Let your nails breathe from time to time as the chemicals in the nail polish may also cause your nails to weaken after some time.

Remember that nails are a part of the body and it will need nutrients as well. This is why eating healthy foods are also important in nail care. Avoid eating junk food that is rich in salt and fat but low in nutrient content. On the contrary, eat food like eggs, liver, salmon and seeds which are rich in calcium and zinc to promote stronger and better-looking nails.

Lastly, don't forget that no matter how much effort you put in making you nails look beautiful, if you are not careful with them, external factors such as exposing your nails to chemicals or mechanical wear and tear will result in ugly nails. This is why protective equipment such as gloves should be worn at all times when exposed to potentially damaging conditions. With these in mind, you would have no problems in having and maintaining nails that you would like to show to everyone.

There are certain nail care tips that we have to follow for grooming out nails. Always make sure that your nails look beautiful especially when you are talking to other people. With beautiful nails on your hands, you will feel confident that you will really look great all the time.
